Your flat-screen TV is an investment, it needs to be mounted and installed with care. We’ve had many customers call us to correct the mistakes made by other installers and do-it-yourself attempts that have put their expensive televisions at risk for damage. A poorly mounted TV will fall to the ground sooner than later. This puts your home, your television, and your family and pets in possible danger when it does.

Call us today and you can avoid all of those perils as our TV mounting service will ensure that your TV is professionally and thoroughly installed at a price you can afford.

Reasons for mounting a TV

There are many benefits of having your flat screen TV mounted. Whether you’re struggling with available space in your home or you have a concern about keeping your flat screen TV safe, we have a TV installation option that works best for you. Our pros know how to perform safe and effective TV mounting on any type of wall, regardless of the materials with which it was built.

Here are just some of the reasons why our CT area customers choose our TV mounting service for their flat screen TVs.

Conserve your floor space

Buying a new television shouldn’t mean you have to sacrifice precious floor space in a room where such a thing is at a premium. Lifting your flat screen TV off of the furniture and installing it on a TV wall mount is the best choice for conserving floor space and protecting your new television from getting knocked over and damaged by mistake.

We can do TV mounting in any room, indoors or outdoors. Let us show you how much better a wall mounted TV looks in your home.

Safer for your new television and your home

Today’s new television models are slimmer and lighter compared to earlier models from just a few years ago. Most of these new models are supposed to be mounted on the wall even though many of the manufacturers still include a set of legs or feet that allow you to rest the TV on a table or entertainment center.

But as these flat screen TVs come with larger screens, lighter weight, and slimmer profiles the center of gravity has shifted, making them far more prone to tipping over.

Too many TV owners will try to do their own TV mounting, often with unexpected and disastrous results. A poorly mounted TV is more likely to come crashing down and DIY’ers won’t even realize they’ve made a mistake until it’s too late and their new television is face down on the floor.

Better viewing angle

When it comes to TV mounting, there are many TV wall mount options from which to choose. A swivel mount or tilting mount can give you the flexibility you want in positioning and re-positioning your new television for the best lines of sight in your room. You won’t need to move your seat, just move your TV on the wall mount to which it’s been attached.

Don’t try doing that with a flat screen TV that’s been placed on top of an entertainment center. It’s unwieldy and puts your TV at risk of toppling over.

Our services

Connecticut TV Mounting can provide a full menu of professionally mounting and installation of your flat screen TV or an entire home theater system. Our technicians do it all from mounting your TV, connecting all of your components together, hiding wires (that is, if your components are wired – many are now wireless), and ensuring that everything is operating properly to your standards.

Don’t do this work yourself unless you have the expertise and experience. Drilling one poorly placed hole into the wall can cause enough damage to make this a costly mistake, for your electrical system or your flat screen TV.

These are just some of the TV and home entertainment system installation services we offer:

  • Offer advice on the type of wall mount or bracket that works best with your TV.
  • Mount your TV on any type of wall surface. We can install your TV to walls made from drywall, concrete, stucco, brick, plaster, you name it, we can do it. Our technician will measure the thickness of the wall first and examine behind the wall to prevent any damage to wiring or pipes.
  • Remove the mount or bracket of your previous TV, if necessary.
  • Connect all cables and conceal them from view upon request.
  • We’ll be happy to install additional equipment including receivers, sound bars or other home sound systems upon request.

How to schedule an appointment

If you are ready to have your TV mounted to the wall, you can set up an appointment through the booking portal on our website. It’s simple and fast, all you need to do is fill out the service request form and we can get a technician out to you as soon as possible.

Here are some things you’ll need to know before you start to fill out the online form:

The size of your TV

First things first, we need to know the size of the TV we will be mounting. This is a measurement that is given in inches and you can find it on the outside of the box your TV was purchased in or on the label at the back of the unit. If you don’t have access to either of those, all you need to do is take a tape measure and extend it from one corner to the other, diagonally, across the screen. That will give you an accurate measurement.

The size of the TV is important so we know what type of mount is needed to safely and securely attach your TV to the wall.

Type of mount

With all of the different types of mounts available, it can be tough to decide. The size of your flat screen TV can have some level of influence on the decision-making process but there are other factors to consider such as the size of the room and the type of seating available, as well as foot traffic and the number of windows in the room. It’s helpful if you already know the TV mount you want, but if you’re still undecided, our technicians are happy to offer you some advice.

Location for installation

You should also have some idea where you plan to install the TV. Our technicians can install your flat screen in any room you wish, but if you are still undecided, we can offer you some advice on that decision too!

Select the date and time that works for you

We aim to fit your appointment around your busy routine. If you need your TV mounted on a particular date or in time for a big event or game, we can accommodate. Just tell us what day you would need one of our technicians to arrive and we’ll set the appointment. We are flexible, so if your plans change we can reschedule anytime. If you give us some advance notice, we can arrange for a technician to install your TV mount on a different day or time. It’s up to you! Let us know and one of our professional technicians will be there.

How high should I mount my TV?

The ideal height for TV mounting depends mainly on four factors: the size of the TV, how far away you’ll be, your eye level height, and the viewing angle. As a rule, the center of a 42” TV should be mounted about 56 inches from the floor, a 55” TV around 61 inches, a 65” TV around 65 inches, and a 70” TV around 67 inches. But the exact mounting height will vary depending on your eye level, which will vary depending on the height of your seats, couch, or bed. Per the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, you’ll want the TV to be mounted for a viewing angle of not more than 30 degrees. Most people casually sit between 10 to 15 degrees reclined.

What kind of TV mount should I use?

Full-motion (aka articulating) mounts offer the most versatility. They can extend from the wall, swivel side to side, tilt up and down, and even rotate. However, if you want your TV to be flush with the wall, then you should choose a low-profile (aka flat or fixed) or tilting mount.

Can I mount a TV myself?

Many amateurs try to tackle TV installation and mounting by themselves because they underestimate the potential dangers that come with taking on the job without the necessary training and experience. That’s why today we are touching on seven of the dangers of DIY TV installation and mounting.

7 DANGERS OF DIY TV INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING

  1. A FAILURE TO ACHOR YOUR TV PROPERLY
The one thing that usually springs to mind when we’re talking about TV installation and mounting gone wrong, is having the TV fall off the wall. One of the reasons that this happens is because you have not anchored your television to the wall or that you have improperly anchored the TV to the wall. You should ALWAYS anchor your TV when wall mounting and when you do anchor your television to the wall, you have to be sure to use anchors that are rated for the weight of your television and designed for use with your mounting surface.
  2. DROPPING YOUR TV
It’s true that televisions are getting lighter these days, but the weight of your TV isn’t the only thing to consider when it comes to being able to properly hold, lift, and install it. The shape and size of your television also play a role in being able to manage your television and this only becomes more challenging when you have to lift and mount that TV to your wall! Even with friends on hand to help you, dropping your TV is a real risk.
  3. ABOUT THAT POWER CORD…
When you tackle your own TV installation and mounting, it’s not uncommon to underestimate the length of your TV’s power cord. This is dangerous for a few reasons. Firstly, utilizing an extension cord is simply not something you should consider if you have other alternatives. Extension cords can be fire hazards and tripping hazards. Secondly, if you stretch your TV power cord to reach a power source because you underestimated the distance between the plug and your television, that stretching can compromise the integrity of the cord and pose a fire hazard or in the very least, cause your TV to malfunction.
  4. ELECTROCUTION
Yes, we know, it sounds dramatic, but electrocution is a real risk when you try TV installation and mounting without experience with electric. Firstly, if you have no idea what you are doing, there’s a chance that you could hit wiring when installing your TV mount. Although this isn’t as likely as improperly wiring your television or improperly running wiring when trying to hide it behind the wall. Our advice is that you never interfere with the electrical system in your home unless you have training as an electrician.
  5. USING THE WRONG CABLES
Did you know that when you install your television wiring behind the wall of your home, that you have to use cables that are rated for in-wall use? When you utilize any cables for in-wall installation they have to be rated for in-wall use to ensure that they do not pose any hazards to human health and safety.
  6. PROBLEMS WITH MOUNTING
When you take on TV installation and mounting yourself, it isn’t uncommon to step back when you’ve finished and to realize that you have mounted your television at the wrong level. The instinct for most people is to tug on that mount or push it upward in hopes that you can fix the issue without having to completely reinstall. Don’t. Tugging, pulling, or pushing your wall-mounted television can compromise the integrity of the solid anchor system you have put in place and that can end up with your TV falling off the wall!
  7. CRIPPLING INJURY
It’s one of the last things that most people think about when considering the dangers of DIY television installation and mounting, but injury is a real risk that can wind up impacting the rest of your life. Whether you injure your back from lifting, twisting, straining, or reaching, or whether you hurt your neck while taking care of construction aspects of the install, you run the risk of an injury that will permanently affect the rest of your life. You may think that this is only a consideration for less physically fit people, but injury can happen to anyone.

What are the advantages of mounting my tv?

There are many reasons why TV wall mounts are becoming more popular for many individuals. Many TVs are now thin and lightweight enough to be easily mounted and come with holes for TV mounting, but installation can require additional effort. Below are a handful of the pros of TV wall mounts.

  • Space Saving and Protected from Children and Pets:
One of the most significant benefits of a wall-mounted TV is that because the TV is mounted to the wall, there is no need for a bulky TV stand to take up floor space and the TV is safely out of reach of children and pets. Not only does mounting your TV on the wall with a bracket help protect the screen, but it also makes the room feel more spacious and opens up design possibilities.
  • Sleek and Modern Finish:
If you are looking for your space to feel sleek and modern, a TV wall mount is the right choice for you. Not only is it an ideal option for smaller spaces, but it is also a stylistic choice that is both practical and aesthetically appealing.
  • Easily Customizable to Create the Ideal Viewing Experience:
Unlike a TV stand, a TV wall mount allows you to customize where your TV is so that it is perfect for your viewing experience and the orientation of the room and furniture. You can choose a specific height for your TV wall mount and allow for additional tilting or positioning for the best viewing experience. If you’re wondering how to choose a TV wall mount, the features of the wall mount and its customizability will be key to consider.
How many hours does it take to mount a TV?
Most TV mounting systems can be installed within an hour or two, though it may take longer to attach hardware to certain wall surfaces, such as brick, stone, tile or concrete. If your project includes wiring, wire concealment or sound bar setup your TV Mounting project may take slightly longer. If NYC TV Mounting runs into any issues that would delay the project we will keep you fully updated along the way!
